Privacy Policies & Disclaimers

In April 2003, a new federal privacy rule - called the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA) - went into effect. HIPAA provides protection for health information, whether it is written, oral or electronic. All members of the Berkshire Health Systems workforce, clinical and non-clinical, must follow HIPAA.

BHS Notice of Privacy Practices
This rule sets national standards for the protection of your health information. Upon registration, we are required to provide you with a notice of our privacy practices and have you sign a form indicating that you have received the notice. The links in this section tell you in detail how BHS may use and disclose medical information about you and describe your rights as a patient to access your medical information. We do this to protect and guard against the misuse of your protected health information.

Berkshire Health Systems values the privacy of health information for our patients. If you receive care from a Berkshire Health Systems provider, please click here to view the BHS Notice of Privacy Practices and learn how we protect your personal health information.

Hospital Directory
We may also request that you tell us if you wish to be included in the hospital directory. This is to make sure we know if you want visitors while you are a patient. If you do not want visitors, please notify the hospital Admitting staff so they can make sure your information is protected.
